What can I expect during my first therapy session?
In your first session, the therapist will review your intake forms, make sure she understands the problem, its root causes, and how it’s impacting your life currently. This will allow your therapist to figure out how to shift all of that and move you toward greater happiness and well-being. We’ll also use the first session to collaborate on treatment goals and clarify the steps to achieving your mental health goals.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy might be right for you if you’re struggling with emotional challenges, stress, or difficult life situations that feel overwhelming or hard to manage on your own. If you’re noticing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or irritability, or if you’re facing issues in your relationships, work, or daily life, therapy can provide support, insight, and strategies to help you cope and improve your well-being. It’s also a good option if you’re seeking personal growth or want to better understand yourself and your emotions. Ultimately, therapy is a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional who can guide you toward positive change.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer a holistic and individualized approach to therapy for each of our clients. Our skilled therapists are trained in a variety of modalities such as EMDR, Rapid Resolution Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy, Attachment Focused Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, DBT, and others to meet your needs.
How often should I attend therapy sessions?
We meet with clients on a weekly basis or every other week depending on our clinical recommendation. It is not advised to meet less than once every two weeks as any less than that has shown to provide minimal progress and we want you to get the most out of your treatment. Some clients prefer “intensives” where the provider meets with the client for 1.5 to 2 hours. We find that these sessions are extremely effective and the client may only need a handful of these sessions.
Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
At this time, we only offer online sessions. We have found them to be just as effective as in person therapy and clients like the convenience of not having to drive to their appointments.
What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
Our fees vary depending on the provider and location. We are in network with Aetna, Cigna, Superior Health, Ambetter, Curative, and can submit your claim for other out of network plans. If you have another PPO insurance plan, your services may be covered. Reimbursement rates for Out of Network vary by insurance plan and the best way to know how much they will pay per session is by calling them directly and asking about your “Out of Network Coverage”. Please inquire if you would like to utilize your insurance so that we can verify your coverage before your appointment.
How do I book an appointment, and what is your cancellation policy?
You may book a free consultation or appointment directly via our online platform or contact us to help you decide your best therapist match and assist you with the booking process. We have a 24 hour cancellation policy and you will be charged the full rate of the session if the appointment is canceled within that time frame.
Are the therapy sessions confidential?
Yes. All of your therapy sessions are kept confidential unless you would like us to consult with someone or you would like to invite someone, such as a partner or relative, into your session. In these cases, we would ask that you provide a written consent. The only exceptions to this are in cases where we are legally required to break confidentiality such as when intending to harm yourself or in cases of reported child or elderly abuse.
How long does each therapy session last?
Most individual therapy sessions last 45 to 60 minutes, but there are times when a therapist may recommend a longer session.
Can I choose the therapist I want to work with?
Definitely! We believe that a positive therapeutic relationship is extremely important. Therefore, we encourage you to look through our therapist options or discuss your preferences with our administrator who can help you determine your best fit.
What should I do if I need immediate help or have a crisis?
If you are our client and find yourself in a crisis, we ask that you call your therapist and reach out to the mental health crisis line at 9-8-8. If you are at risk of harming yourself or others, we suggest calling 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency room for an evaluation and then reach out to us to let us know.
Do you offer therapy for children and adolescents?
Yes. However, our primary focus with children and adolescents is on supporting the parent and providing them the tools and knowledge that the therapist has so that they can help their child in the moment as issues arise.
What should I bring or prepare for my therapy sessions?
It is recommended that you bring a notepad in case you’d like to write down anything you’d like to remember and homework tasks, if they are provided. However, you can also use your phone to jot down notes if you’d like. In addition, it is a good idea to think about “what would I like to change in the way I have been thinking, feeling, acting, or reacting?” and bring your response to this question.
How can therapy help with issues like anxiety, depression, or trauma?
Therapy is a crucial step in addressing anxiety, depression and trauma by providing a safe space for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings and techniques that cause things to shift. Through various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), a therapist helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, process traumatic experiences, and develop coping strategies. This process not only alleviates symptoms but also empowers individuals to regain control of their lives, fostering long-term emotional resilience and well-being.
